EU EMBASSADOR HANDS OVER VEHICLES, MOTOR BIKES AND IT EQUIPMENT TO HRMO/PSC UNDER THE EU SUPPORT TO THE GOVERNANCE SECTOR IN SIERRA LEONE

European Union Ambassador Manuel Muller has handed over seven (7) 4×4 Toyota vehicles, One (1) eighteen (18) seater mini bus, One(1) thirty-five (35) seater bus, nine (9) Motorbikes and Assorted office and IT equipment such as computers, giant printers, scanners, servers, generators, giant photocopiers, air conditioners, fingerprint readers etc. that worth 8 billion Leones to the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO)/Public Service Commission (PSC) under the Civil Service Reform Component funded under the 11th European Development Fund (EDF) as EU support to the Governance Sector in Sierra Leone.

Commissioning these assets, Manuel Muller said the donation is a reaffirmation of European Union support towards the Government of Sierra Leone and its ambitious plans to reform and strengthen its public and civil service.

He added, civil service reform is the corner stone of the New Direction Agenda and National Mid-Term Development Plan which is why a performing civil service is absolutely key to drive the human capacity development and economic growth ambitioned by Sierra Leone.

Ambassador Muller went further to state that it was because of that ambition by the government of Sierra Leone that the EU agreed to strengthen the capacities of the Public Service Commission, the Human Resource Management Office and the Civil Service Training College.

He thanked the leadership at HRMO and PSC for the various policy reforms to ensure there is an effective and efficient public service in the country.

Director at the National Authorising Office (NAO), Ambrose James said the office continues to facilitate the development cooperation between the European Union and the Government of Sierra Leone for the benefit of Sierra Leoneans. Ambrose James further said the commissioning of vehicles, motor bikes, buses and IT equipment further showcases the excellent relationship between the EU and Government of Sierra Leone.

Ambrose James reminded HRMO/PSC staff that the items are provided to facilitate delivery of project objectives and to create a good working environment as he said HRMO/PSC play a critical role in the governance system of the country.

Both HRMO Director General Ansu Tucker and Chairman PSC Kalilu O. Bah thanked the EU for their tremendous support to both the HRMO/PSC and promised to use the donated items for their intended purposes

The National Authorising Office facilitates the process of Development Corporation between the Government of Sierra Leone and the European Union, to ensure effective project implementation for the people of Sierra Leone.
