BAFS/PCU COMMENCE TRAINING FOR RECIPIENTS OF GRANTS CONTRACTS FINANCED UNDER THE 11TH EUROPEAN DEVELOPMENT FUND

The Technical Assistant (TA) Finance and Procurement who also is the Deputy Head of the Technical Assistance Team (TAT), Guy Chimimba and the Imprest Accounting Officer (IAO), Jonathan Lamboi of the BAFS Project Coordination Unit (BAFS/PCU) today conducted a training for the Sierra Leone Agricultural Research Institute (SLARI) and representatives of the BAFS project service contract with Njala University.

The training is the premier of a series of trainings for recipients of Grant Contracts Financed under the 11th European Development Fund (EDF) to give support and build the capacity of Grantees and Service Contractors.

The training sessions will focus on topics relating to the relationship between the EU, National Authorizing Office (NAO), Grantees, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF) and BAFS PCU in contract management, structure of the EDF contract, procurement rules for beneficiaries, reports, record keeping and other supporting documentation and terms of reference for expenditure verification.

It is hoped that the trainings will enhance the knowledge of grantee organizations on the general and specific contractual conditions and provisions setting out the administrative, financial, legal and technical clauses governing the execution of grants contracts.
