BAFS/PCU CONDUCTS THIRD SET OF TRAINING FOR AGRIBUSINESS GRANTEES FINANCED UNDER THE 11TH EUROPEAN DEVELOPMENT FUND

The Technical Assistant (TA) Finance and Procurement who also is the Deputy Head of the Technical Assistance Team (TAT), Guy Chimimba, the Imprest Accounting Officer (IAO), Jonathan Lamboi of the BAFS Project Coordination Unit (BAFS/PCU) and John Abu Kpawoh, Project Manager, Rural Development & Environment and Mohamed Barry, Finance Contract & Audit Manager of EU today, 1 December 2020, conducted a training for some of the BAFS project Agribusiness Grantee organizations.

Representatives from Bennimix, Octopus, CAFOD, Action Against Hunger, BRAC, etc were in attendance. The training is the third of a series of trainings for recipients of Grant Contracts Financed under the 11th European Development Fund (EDF) to give support and build the capacity of Grantees.

The training sessions focused on topics related to the relationship between the EU, National Authorizing Office (NAO), Grantees, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF) and BAFS PCU in contract management, structure of the EDF Grant contract- General and special conditions, procurement rules for beneficiaries, reports, record keeping and terms of reference for expenditure verification, and finally BAFS project and the Sierra Leone tax rules.

It is hoped that the trainings will enhance the knowledge of grantee organizations on the general and specific contractual conditions and provisions setting out the administrative, financial, legal and technical clauses governing the execution of grants contracts.
