NAO and MBSSE concludes final quality and quantity check on School furniture in four(4) districts

A technical team from the National Authorising Office (NAO) and the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary School Education (MBSSE) has completed quality and quantity verification checks of 38,000 single-seater desk and chair sets, destined for schools in Port Loko, Bombali, Kenema and Bo districts funded by the EU under the Support to Education in Sierra Leone programme, the furniture will contribute towards a more conducive learning environment, and better learning outcomes in beneficiary schools, by solving the problem of broken desks and insufficient seating. The NAO’s role in Sierra Leone is to oversee the EU/GoSL development partnership and ensure that Sierra Leone’s interests are fully represented. Verification checks are important to ascertain quantity, quality, and adherence to contractual specifications before acceptance by relevant parties and then onward distribution to target schools. “An educated workforce is better able to contribute to the national economy and development agenda of the government”, said the Director of the NAO Ambrose James during the NAO’s EU Day celebration which focused on the theme ‘Partnership for Human Capital Development’. Providing 38,000 single-seater desk and chair sets for 422 schools in four districts in the country will help create the enabling environment we need for our school pupils to realize their potential.
