Yesterday, 15th May, 2023 the National Authorising Office (NAO) and the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MOPED) together with other representatives from different Ministries, Departments and Agencies, civil society organisations, the media and members of the diplomatic and Consular corps joined the European Union Delegation in Sierra Leone at a reception held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Freetown to celebrate Europe Day which was observed on the 9th of May.
In their statements, both the Head of European Union Delegation to Sierra Leone Ambassador Manuel Muller and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affair, Madam Mamadi Gobbeh Kamara reaffirm their commitments and cooperation between the EU and Government of Sierra Leone.
The theme for this year’s ‘Europe Day’ celebration is ‘Solidarity and Unity’. Every year, the NAO joins the European Union Delegation in Sierra Leone to celebrate Europe Day.
This year NAO celebrated this day by showcasing how the European Union and Government of Sierra Leone Development programmes and projects have helped to bring unity and solidity that has also helps to strengthen the peace and integration in the country.
Europe Day celebration theme dovetails with EU’s development programmes through its ‘Support to Key Infrastructure Project’ in Sierra Leone’. This project supports the construction of roads and bridges that helps to build solidarity and unity amongst people and between nations, communities, chiefdoms, cities, districts and regions in Sierra Leone.
The National Authorising Office continues to facilitate Government of Sierra Leone and European Union development cooperation for the benefit of Sierra Leone.
