Project monitoring on the progress of works on rehabilitation, renovation and upgrading of targeted Junior Secondary Schools in Port Loko, Bombali, and Karene districts.

Routine project monitoring, is part of our core responsibility at the National Authorising Office (NAO) #NAOSL. This week our focus was on the support to education sector project, part of #EU 11th European Development Fund (EDF) portfolio. Together with the consultants and contractors, we jointly monitored progress of works on rehabilitation, renovation and upgrading of targeted Junior Secondary Schools in Port Loko, Bombali and Karene districts. We visited Lungi, Lokomassa, Petifu Junction, Masoila, Gbinti Wallah, Masiaka, Makarankay, Magnembeh,Masimera and Songo in Port Loko District, Manjoro, Karina, Kamaranka, Gbendembu Kamakwie and Masongo in Bombali and Karene Districts. Discussions were held with school authorities, local leaders and the community. We gauged their personal assessment, satisfaction of progress and challenges. We held debriefing sessions to plan and set new targets. The project is targeting 100 JSS schools in Bo, Bombali, Kenema and Port Loko districts. Despite the rains and COVID restrictions contractors continue to make progress, contributing to better learning outcomes for children in these districts.
