TECHNICAL COORDINATION GROUP DISCUSSES THE CIVIL SERVICE REFORM COMPONENT UNDER THE SUPPORT TO GOVERNANCE SECTOR IN SIERRA LEONE FUNDED BY THE EUROPEAN UNION

Yesterday 10th March, 2022 the National Authorising Office Director, Ambrose James Chaired the 3rd Technical Coordination Group meeting held at the National Authorising Office Conference Hall in Freetown to discuss the Civil Service Reform component under the EU support to the governance sector in Sierra Leone under the 11th European Development Fund (EDF)

In his opening remarks as chairman of the meeting, Ambrose James said the main focus of the technical coordination group is to provide technical guide and review progress of activities undertaken by the Public Service Commission (PSC) and the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) under the civil service reform component.

The component focuses on two key results which are:

  1. legal revision and organizational capacity assessments are available, and mandates of institutions streamlined
  2. Improved levels of skills, competence, performance and public service delivery of civil and public service at both local and national levels

The TCG provides strategic guidance over the Programme component on civil service reform and periodically review progress of implementation for planned interventions. The technical group assesses progress of implementation, opportunities, gaps and challenges and also provides possible revisions and strategic direction for future activities.

With the support of the EU, the technical coordinating group is helping to improve institutional capacity, human and financial resources of the civil service and improving public service delivery
