The establishment of 40,000 seedlings for the establishment of the community forest, woodlots and agroforestry targeted for this planting season in four (4) intervention districts of Kono, Tonkolili, Kambia and Karene

With funding from the European Union in Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the establishment of 40,000 seedlings for the establishment of a community forest, woodlots and agroforestry targeted for this planting season is ongoing in our four (4) intervention districts of Kono, Tonkolili, Kambia, and Karene. The seedlings are Tectona Grandis, Terminalia Ivorenses, Gmelina Arborea, Anacardium nuts, Tamarine and fruit seeds. The establishment of 120 acres of legumes/cereals as an alternative source of income (to the community forest put aside) is also ongoing. This serves as a community seed bank. A revolving loan model will be utilized in each District within the various communities.
