WITH SUPPORT FROM EU: STEEL BEAM LAUNCHED ACROSS YAMBATUI RIVER

The Sierra Leone Roads Authority and the Contractor CSE Company and Politecnica have successfully launched the steel beam across the Yambatui River yesterday for construction of the new 42 meter double lane Moyamba Town bridge, in Moyamba Town. This bridge will replace the old single lane steel bridge in the township.

The new 42 meter double lane Moyamba Town bridge is part of the EU funded Moyamba-Moyamba Junction Road and Bridges Project. The bridge aims at improving the road link between Moyamba Junction and Moyamba Township, hence facilitating access to that southern part of the country.

It benefits will include reduced vehicle operating costs, travel time, and increased rural development.

Works on the bridge were delayed due to travel restrictions of experts as a result of COVID-19 outbreak, but with the ease on restrictions, works have resumed in full swing and the bridge is expected to be completed as soon as possible.
