ROAD CONSTRUCTION FROM MAKOLOH JUCTION TO KOBLO-GULAMA (MABANG) BRIDGE ON THE SONG-MOYAMBA HIGHWAY COMMENCES

Construction of the 14km road from Makoloh Junction (second tollgate) through Songo and to Koblo-Gulama formerly Mabang Bridge has started on 1st November this year after both the EU and the Ministry of Finance have agreed on the commencement on the construction work after all the necessary steps have been followed. The official launch for the construction of the road will take place on the 15th November in the township of Songo.

The Government of Sierra Leone and the European Union are jointly funding the construction of the road, which demonstrates the development cooperation between Sierra Leone and the European Union.

During the commissioning of the Koblo-Gulama bridge in July last year, President Julius Maada Bio expressed concern about the road leading to the newly constructed bridge, and urged that discussions be held with EU to find ways for the construction of the road, for the benefit of communities and to help harness the wider economic potential of that region.

After series of internal discussions between the National Authorising Office (NAO), Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA), Ministry of Finance and the European Union Delegation in Sierra Leone on funding for the construction of the first phase of the road, it was agreed that the 14Km road stretch will be jointly funded by the Government of Sierra Leone and European Union.

At the National Authorising Office (NAO), under the supervision of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development we continue to facilitate 🇸🇱GOSL-🇪🇺EU development cooperation for the benefit of Sierra Leone.
